As with the spectacles, there is another option for individuals with a Priority Card: a dedicated viewing area.
In fact, there are two dedicated viewing areas!
The first dedicated viewing area is much, much smaller than the one for the nighttime spectacle. So, it fills up. Quickly. Our usual advice here still applies, however: come early if you want to use it!
As you can see, I’ve figured out how to put little arrows on these maps.
A little kindness goes a long way.
You can also see that the priority viewing area is not that large.
It is well-placed, however, and offers great views of the parades as they go by. So long as there is no one standing right in front of you, that is. Speaking of people standing in front of you, there are a few benches in this area as well, for those of us who need to sit down more than others. Which is all well and good unless someone is right in front of you. Then, you’re not really watching the parade at all. Just the South end of a North-facing guest. In these situations, I recommend a polite conversation, where you point out that you need to be sitting and ask them to shift a little. Hopefully they will! And hopefully each of us in the same proverbial boat will remember that we all have different needs, and that when it is our turn to need something, someone else will treat us with the same kindness we have shown to others.
Also, the little arrow on the map points to where a Cast Member will be standing. This is a good tip, as the priority viewing area is within the dreaded dark blue zone, meaning there will be an absolute ton of people around. The less time we can spend in the crush of crowds, the less stimulation we will receive, making the whole day that much easier! To gain access to this area, you must simply show the Cast Member your Priority Card, which will allow you and up to two other people to enter into the area.
The second viewing area is much larger than the first one.
It is also not right in the middle of the Main Plaza, so you don’t have to work your way through a big crowd to get to it.
Besides, it is located at the Northernmost point of the parade route, and we’ve already said that this is the best place to watch the parade.
As you can see, it is located near to the entrance to It’s a Small World. As with the other viewing area, there are some benches located at the back of the area for when we need to sit down, though the same comments that we noted about the first viewing area apply here as well.
In the same way as the previous viewing area, the little arrow on the map points to where a Cast Member will be standing. To gain access to this area, you must simply show the Cast Member your Priority Card, which will allow you and up to two other people to enter into the area.
Ok, that takes care of finding some ways to see the spectacles at Disneyland Paris, hopefully in a way that doesn’t take more capacity than we have to give.
Where do we even go?
*Please don’t make me put that horrible map up on this page, too.
But where are these smiling sentinels, you may ask? Well, look back to map in the last section,* and look for any place where the red-shaded area touches a non-shaded area.
As the red-shaded area is the access point for the priority viewing area, this is where we can enter to watch the spectacle. To gain access, simply show your Priority Card to one of the sentinel Cast Members, and they will direct you (and up to two others with you, remember!) where to go. That’s it.
Then, head down towards the viewing area in front of the castle, which is the Northernmost portion of the dark blue area on the map, where you will find a large, open area where you can choose a spot to watch the fireworks. Or, that is what might happen. Because unless you get there early, the area will still be large, but it will not be open.
This area often gets full. So full that it ends up being busier and more crowded than other parts of the dark blue area. As this press of people can be really stressful, you may want to consider not using the priority viewing area as a tactic to manage your sensory input. Alternatively, you may want to show up at least an hour early and pick a spot that is far from the entrance to the priority viewing area, in order to lessen the chances of being within a large crush of guests.
The good news is that there are many excellent ways to watch the fireworks and lights show spectacles. If one way doesn’t work for you, it is easy to try another one!
