A Brief Introduction

After saying that everyone is different, we think it is important for you to know a little about our lived experience so that you know what we have been looking for while visiting Disneyland. Because after all, this is A neurodivergent family’s guide. Not THE neurodivergent family’s guide.

Both myself and my spouse were diagnosed with ADHD as adults. We have two sons, whom I will refer to as Expansion Packs One and Two, who are 9 and 11 years-old at the time of writing (I’ll also sometimes call them EP1 or 2). Our Expansion Packs came with the ASD and ADHD add-ons, which can add that extra layer of challenge to things that we hadn’t previously considered. Hence this guide. One important note about our team is that while we have a particular blend of neurospiciness, we do not have any mobility issues. So, while this guide will discuss mobility options from time to time, it wasn’t a challenge that was front and centre for us. As such, there are likely mobility accessibility options and challenges that I haven’t considered in writing this guide. So please be aware of that when on your trip.

Ok, enough of that. On to Disneyland!
